APS AI Delivery Accelerator
A structured, vendor-neutral advisory service to help agencies make sound AI decisions and establish a practical pathway from assessment to pilot or scale.
01 / The outcome
The Accelerator brings the right questions together before an AI initiative gathers momentum: who it serves, what value it may create, what risks it introduces and what it takes to operate responsibly.
We work with sponsors, program and procurement leaders, architects, and governance, risk, privacy, security, data and workforce stakeholders. The scope reflects the use case, agency maturity and existing work.
“Assured delivery” describes an approach grounded in evidence, controls and accountable decisions. Approval, implementation and ongoing oversight remain with the agency and its authorised decision-makers.
02 / The method
Risk and accountability are considered from discovery. Stages can be revisited as evidence, architecture and agency priorities develop.

Opportunity brief
Assess strategic alignment, expected benefits, data readiness, inherent risks and human-accountability requirements.
Potential output
Value, readiness and risk assessment
Compare value, feasibility, risk and dependencies. Decide which opportunities to progress, reshape or defer.
Potential output
Prioritised use-case portfolio
Define conceptual AI, data and integration architecture, including access boundaries and appropriate RAG, Copilot or agentic patterns.
Potential output
Conceptual or reference architecture
Identify privacy, security, explainability and assurance controls. Establish decision rights, evidence needs and review gates.

03 / What you take away
Deliverables are agreed during scoping. Existing agency artefacts can be reviewed and strengthened rather than duplicated.
04 / Proposed Showcase demonstration
Novatecno can provide an interactive, facilitated walkthrough for the AI Government Showcase 2026. Participants would explore how changing the users, data or level of autonomy changes the decisions and controls.
The proposed demonstration uses fictional government scenarios, a use-case canvas and an illustrative decision pack. It demonstrates the advisory method. Participation in the Showcase is subject to selection; this is not a claim that a software product has already been developed.
Explore an illustrative scenario
Fictional examples for discussion. These are not agency projects or completed assessments.
A fictional agency wants staff to find and understand approved internal guidance more easily.
Reduce time spent locating guidance. Establish a baseline and test whether staff find correct, current material more reliably.
Assess document ownership, currency and permissions. Consider retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) over an approved, access-controlled collection.
Require source references, uncertainty handling and escalation. Test incorrect retrieval, misleading answers and attempts to expose restricted information.
Train staff to verify answers. Agree content stewardship, evaluation examples, incident handling and success criteria before a pilot.
Consider a bounded staff-only pilot after content access, evaluation and ownership are established. No automated policy decisions.
A fictional agency is exploring AI-assisted drafting for routine public enquiries.
Assess drafting effort and response quality. Identify people affected by inaccurate, inaccessible or inappropriate correspondence.
Map personal information and approved response sources. Define retention, access and integration boundaries.
An authorised officer reviews and sends every response. Examine privacy, bias, tone, unsupported claims and escalation for sensitive matters.
Build role-based guidance and representative evaluation cases. Define review workload and monitor corrections as well as time saved.
Start with synthetic enquiries and a controlled drafting trial. Keep sending and sensitive decisions with authorised staff.
A fictional agency is considering an agent that prepares and routes internal service requests.
Understand bottlenecks and whether simpler automation could meet the need. Bound the tasks and systems in scope.
Map tools, APIs, identity and data flows. Design least-privilege access, allowed actions and clear execution limits.
Define approval points, audit records, rollback and a stop mechanism. Test tool misuse, prompt injection, unexpected actions and escalation.
Assign operational ownership. Prepare runbooks, incident response, user training and evidence for each proposed increase in autonomy.
Evaluate in a sandbox with synthetic requests. Progress only when agency decision-makers accept the evidence and operating controls.
05 / Government guidance
Services are designed to consider applicable Australian Government guidance. The relevant obligations, evidence and review steps are established for each engagement.
Consider trust, people and tools together when shaping the agency’s AI adoption pathway.
